Could someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong? I'm in the SC app on my iPhone and I see my two doors on All Items. From there, I can click into one, press Open and it opens. Same with Close. However, when I add the routine in SC, and then try to execute routine, it tells me something went wrong. But as I've read above, someone said to not test it here anyways. But I still can't get the scene discovered in the Alexa app. I've read conflicting posts about enabling voice companion within the SC app or not, so maybe I'm doing something wrong there?
Mike Chambers, Definitely enable the voice companion as indicated in SwiftyRox’s post. Then the routines will be discoverable as scenes. Testing the routine in SC by executing the routine has continued to give me the Something wrong dialogue but Alexa somehow can make the routine a go.
Mike Chambers, I feel you. I had the hardest time. But cookie SwiftyRox directions. Just as Blessing Dragon said. Once that’s done then it will discover your scenes.
It sounds to me like people are making progress with Kloee and Alexa. As long as you followed my instructions w/ screenshots in SC/Kloee to setup the door routines and enable voice control....Just running a standard "Add/Discover" in your Alexa App should pull in the two "Scenes" that will come from Kloee
IMPORTANT!!! YOU MUST add the Kloee for SC skill to your Alexa Skills....Don't add the standard Simple Commands Skill....When you are adding a skill...just search for "kloee" in the skills search....
Once you have that added...then just run a generic "discover devices" in the Alexa app, and it will pull in the 2 scenes. From there...you can create whatever "routines" you want in Alexa...I have included screenshots of a couple of mine and the structure....The 3rd one is "Location Services" from Amazon Alexa...so it the "geofencing" principle...Once I enter a zone near my house...the door will open automatically....The other two are "voice command" routines..
With MyQ API problems having cropped up four times in the last two years, someone in one of the two threads I've been following here in SC suggested using SwitchBot, which actually acts as an automated way to push the darn button in the garage to open or close it. SwitchBot integrates with Alexa, Siri Shortcuts, Google Home and IFTTT.
As an FYI, it's 25% off on Amazon today. https://amzn.to/3ymH9U2, as is the hub needed with it, https://amzn.to/3jm8L7z. I ordered them this morning and Amazon says I'll have them by this afternoon. Will gladly report back, and if they are indeed FTW. The idea of never having to deal with the MyQ API again will hopefully be worth the $65 (including tax) this will cost.
The reason why I mentioned getting the geofenced zone just right is because: (Example)
You've set the geofenced zone around your property so the garage door will open. However, the circle also captures a section of road near your house that you drive on frequently and extends east/west or north/south of your pinned "home".
There may be days when you drive down that road and go past your house, but you're not going home at that moment...Well?? Let's say your coming from picking up the kids and headed to the grocery store and your house is in between but you aren't ready to go home yet. If you leave that road in the geofenced zone, your garage is going to open as you drive past the house....probably don't want that to happen...LOL!!
Finally got my Alexa back up and running like it used to be. Both doors opening and closing, location set up so it opens when I arrive home, all is good. Thanks to everyone for all the great info!
Another expression of "Thank You" to all the helpful Post'ers and to the SC folks who have cobbled this back together again. It's great to have Alexa managing both my garage doors again!
Correct - there’s only one app in the Apple app store. I use google assistant and the skill there is called “kloee for sc”
Visiting app.simplecommands.com in the browser allowed me to login to MyQ. From There it linked back to the app and my device showed up and I’m able to add it to routines.
edit: looks like I can’t actually *control* the device though, not directly from the SC devices page or through a routine in SC. It says the “device is offline”
Blessing Dragon - I actually have a spare switchbot lying around that I didn't even think to use but will set that up as my fail safe. The switchbot products play nice with just about everything so I am pretty sure I could setup a routine (if and when needed) for it to just hit the button as I cross the geofence. This spare one was controlling my AC before I learned that the mini HUB also is a RF remote and can make anything smart by doing so. Instead of needing the lil bot to push the AC button now the HUB just sends the power on command which is awesome because now I keep my gameroom completely climate controlled.
Since geofencing for Alexa is not available in Canada, will location tracking for Simple Commands still operate the garage door? I’m assuming it’s the liaison between MyQ and my iPhone and doesn’t require Alexa to work when I leave and arrive from my location. Is the perimeter that it detects customizable? I might have to buy a Tailwinds IQ3 and ditch the MyQ/Simple Commands platform for geo location abilities.
Data Dan, That's why I use IFTTTtrigger (IFTTTrigger : Amazon.ca: Alexa Skills). This is an alexa skill that creates a virtual button that can be used as a trigger in Alexa routines, and actions via applets in ifttt. For instance, create a virtual button, in IFTTT create a location based applet (when entering X perimeter, turn on the virtual button), and in alexa create a routine in which when the virtual button turns on, then the garage door opens.
I can only echo what everyone here said, THANK YOU everyone, especially SwiftyRox and Salam Dahbourfor the incredible clear instructions to create a skill in alexa. I still don't understand how it worked, and it doesn't matter!!!
Aircomba, are you saying the SwitchBot hub can control the MyQ without having the button pusher device installed? I returned both of them to Amazon because the way my MyQ physical button is designed, the little button thing would have needed to be installed right on the face of it, blocking the LED info. I did think the hub was pretty poorly made (cheap plastic) but if it can be used to somehow trigger the MyQ I'm interested to learn how.
I've been spending some time in the Hubitat Elevation forum. Many of the folks there like the HE because everything is local, not in the cloud. Except, it seems, the MyQ which still needs MyQ Lite to work which takes that back to square one. The Hubitat on eBay is about $100 and I don't really want to spend that on a solution because MyQ keeps breaking connections to their API. And, as mentioned, because the API is currently the problem, the HE doesn't work without yet another piece of hardware in the mix.
Blessing Dragon I dunno what kind of signal is used on those garage opener remotes? It controls IR (sorry not RF like I think I said earlier). It can control my AC, any of my non smart RGB/RGBIC strips etc. You just have it smart learn by way of preprogrammed info or by learning from the device remote. My AC was in the preprogrammed list so I just had to take the remote tell the hub mini what command your sending it and you push the remote button at the Hub mini like you were going to turn the ac on/off/etc and it copies the signal and uses it to make it smart. You just have to program each command separately so if there are a lot of them it might take some time. My AC all i needed was on/off so very quick.
Hari, I’m using an Iphone SE and the app works for me but there are some bugs. In Home status it shows the garage door is offline. I can open and close it in “Garage Door” but if I navigate to the routines page and try to execute the open or close routine I get an error message “something went wrong please try again” Even with these issues Alexa integration works fine!
This is ridiculous, over a month later ya all still talking about this every question and every answer has been resolved by now, this is doing nothing but cluttering up our inboxes, about 300 messages
Data Dan, see previous posts. You're trying to Execute Routine from the Routines section of the SC app. It will always fail. Just set up the voice commands on that screen as described earlier and then Discover the scene in Alexa app.
See Jason, everyone has different setups with different issues. Personally I'm thankful for this thread where people are helping each other solve their problems.
Swftyfox, that’s right tell him! Everyone has been very helpful in helping anyone with problems. During these times I’ve come across a lot of bad people. Being on this forum has restored my faith . Keep up the great work everyone!
Mike Chambers, I don’t have any problems getting it to work with Alexa. I had it working on Aug 25. Just trying a few different things to help Hari with his iPhone. I just find it interesting that the Home status shows the garage door is offline but everything works anyway and the fact that the execute routine doesn’t work must be a bug.
1) In the MyQ App Menu, click Partners and select Google Assistant 2) Open the Partner app, search for MyQ and choose to connect
I'm wondering though if you will have a conflict of interest if you are already using Alexa. I have found in the past that you have to commit to one or the other. I cannot be sure in this case....But based on these instructions, it looks pretty easy....no middle-man app required...

Finally got!!!!!! Thanks to everyone who helped from the bottom of my heart!!!!

I still get the “invalid credentials” error when trying to log in to MyQ in the SimpleCommands app. This is on iPhone 12
edit: works through the web browser but not the app
Hari....are you using the Kloee version of SC?
Edited: I guess there is only one app download...forgive me..
That said...I'm not sure why your app won't let you login...someone else here surely must have an iphone....is there an update for the app?
I second Keith Ryder and Mike Chambers on thanking everyone for your help. Especially SwiftyRox. You all have been excellent!!

Do anyone know how to connect MyQ to google assistant using simple commands?
Dedra Davis....According to MyQ's website:
1) In the MyQ App Menu, click Partners and select Google Assistant
2) Open the Partner app, search for MyQ and choose to connect
