SimpleCommands enables its users to control their smart homes through a whole myriad of platforms, including Alexa, Google Assistant, Shortcuts and even SMS! After you've enabled the SMS Companion follow the instructions below to control your Ring devices with a simple text.
1. When controlling your devices with SimpleCommands via the SMS Companion each text has to have at least two things: an Item, Group or Routine name, and a command. However, you only need to send an Item's name to SC and it will prompt you through the rest! In the example below, you can see the device is called "Ring alarm" and its state is being checked. You can control any other Ring device you have Connected to SimpleCommands as well. If you are ever curious about the current state of a device (such as a light or door, etc.) you can always send a text that says, "[device name] state".
