What is an Item?

Items are one of the main components of SimpleCommands; the other being Connections. Items are the objects with which SimpleCommands communicates and they come in two forms. They are either the physical devices connected to your third-party accounts that you connect to SimpleCommands (E.g. lightbulbs, sprinklers, cars, etc.), or apps/web services that can receive requests (E.g. Lyft, Chase, Spotify). Despite these differences these two types of Items respond to your requests identically, and are listed together in your Item List.

Items are one of the two things required in every request or request you give to SimpleCommands (the other being the command). 

Adding an Item

Items are automatically added to your Items List when you add a Connection.

Using an Item

Using an Item is very easy. Once you establish a Connection and your Items have been added to your account your Items will be added to the appropriate tabs on your home page. The top-left tab includes all of your current Connections. For more information on using SimpleCommands, see our Introduction to SimpleCommands.
